10 moves the Cleveland Browns must make during the 2018 offseason
6. Find a future left tackle
Joe Thomas won’t play forever, and the Browns need to start thinking about life in a world where an All-Pro isn’t manning the tackle position. They got a first hand look at what life would be like without Thomas this year, when injury sidelined the former No. 3 overall pick for the first time in his career.
Spencer Drango filled in for Thomas, but were’t talking about replacing a Hall of Famer. The same level of performance just wasn’t there.
Drango was Pro Football Focus’ 54th ranked tackle. Joe Thomas finished the season ranked third.
The Browns have Roderick Johnson, but he was most known for being embarrassed by Myles Garrett at training camp. Johnson spent the regular season on IR.
Zach Banner is on the roster as well, but again, you’re not forgetting about the position as you would with Thomas there.
Some draftniks have Orlando Browns‘s son, Orlando Brown, as one of the best tackle prospects in the draft. Brown plays for Oklahoma.
Brown is rated by this CBS writer as the fourth best prospect in the draft.
