The Cleveland Cavaliers must now set their sights on the buyout market and these are five candidates the franchise should sign if/when they become available.

The Cleveland Cavaliers enter the next portion of in-season play acquisition by monitoring the buyout market.

Teams have until March 1 to sign a player and have them edible to compete in the playoffs.

Cleveland welcomed four new players to its roster and shipped six out before the NBA trade deadline came and went, so naturally, everybody wants to know if they’re going to make a move on the buyout market.

After the flurry of Koby Altman’s moves were complete, the 35-year-old GM opened two open roster spots within the organization.

If a player becomes available that the Cavs covet, Altman will be able to make a pitch to him.

With that said, some of the more popular names on the market will not be available. For example, Nerlens Noel will not be bought out by the Dallas Mavericks.

It was thought that former Cav Kendrick Perkins was set to re-join the team after the veteran used social media as the platform to announce “He’s back.” Perkins deleted the Instagram post and Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon reported that the team was willing to let the dust settle before offering Perkins a contract.

New York Times scribe Marc Stein wrote that there’s a strong expectation one of the roster spots will be used to sign Perkins.

Perkins didn’t play in the NBA last season, but has been a good soldier, keeping his career alive with the Canton Charge of the G-League. When discussing Perkins, it’s worth noting that he didn’t play valuable minutes against the Warriors during the 2014-2015 Finals.

He’d be a veteran presence who can enter a game and give hard fouls. But we’re talking about the last two roster spots on the team. It doesn’t matter whom the Cavs choose to fill those positions. Minutes are likely to be scarce, especially during playoff time.

With that in mind, here’s five other potential buyout candidates who might be able to help the Cavs if they become available.
