What would it cost the Cleveland Browns to acquire Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to be their QB in 2018.

The Cleveland Browns are looking for a veteran quarterback and Nick Foles could be the answer, but what would it cost to get the Super Bowl MVP?

With the Cleveland Browns failing to acquire Alex Smith to be their veteran quarterback for the 2018 campaign, Cleveland has to turn its focus elsewhere.

That could mean making a pitch to the Eagles for Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.

Philadelphia doesn’t have to trade their backup, because he’s on a team friendly deal and is under contract for next season. With Carson Wentz coming back from a major knee injury, the Eagles might not want to part with someone who proved he’s capable of getting the job done.

However, with Cleveland likely to take a quarterback in the first round of the draft, the Browns have to find somebody to start. Everyone and anyone could and should be in play.

If the Eagles are going to part with Foles, Mile  High Sports’ Ben Allbright, tweeted that it could cost a couple of second-rounders.

Allbright’s response came to a Twitter user who asked if a first-round pick would be enough to land Foles, and he’s right. A first-round selection would be too much.

Foles is the Super Bowl MVP, but he’s a journeyman quarterback at this point of his career. He’s someone you’d love to have on your roster, but as the cornerstone of your franchise? No.

Two No. 2’s seems like a steep price for the Browns, but for a second that isn’t the 33rd overall pick, and a fourth rounder, first-year Browns GM John Dorsey should seriously consider it.

You simply can’t put a price on getting a capable quarterback. Browns fans know this better than anybody.

Unfortunately, the Eagles are in a position where they’d have to be blown away by any potential offer.

Adding Foles might not excite the die hards who’ve followed his career, but at the very least the team would be adding a capable veteran with good character who’s capable of leading a young squad.

What the Browns do regarding their quarterback room may depend on how an arbitrator rules on A.J. McCarron’s free agency on Feb. 15. McCarron is arguing he should be an unrestricted free agent, but the Bengals believe he should be restricted because he was injured as a rookie.

Adding McCarron makes sense in that he has history with Hue Jackson, but the coach will almost certainly be starting the season the hot seat. Would the Browns really want “Hue’s guy” if if turns out Jackson gets fired?

Next: Joe Thomas' next job: Monday Night Football?

Plus, McCarron doesn’t fit the mold of someone who can help develop a rookie. He’s still young himself and trying to prove he should be a starter in the league.
