DL. Texas. Poona Ford. 123. player. 53.

It may be a little early for Poona Ford in the fourth but Cleveland cannot have too many good options along the defensive line. Ford was not invited to the 2018 NFL Combine but many successful players have been bypassed in previous seasons.

Ford was on track to continue on in his momentum statistically but failed to meet his 2016 numbers in 2017. He finished with 22 tackles in 2016 after ending with 42 in 2017.

Despite that, it is evident what teams would get from Ford. He is a clogger, especially in the run game. Linebackers and blitzing defensive backs will benefit from offensive linemen having to double team him at times.

Ford is not a starter but he is a quality depth option. No, he is not a Phil Taylor, which is music to Browns fans’ ears. While he is primarily a nose tackle, I am confident Ford can adapt accordingly when needed to different positions along the line.

Yes, there are Danny Shelton and Jamie Meder, among others, but by adding Ford could allow Meder to play in more roles along the line. Meder doesn’t get the athleticism he is due. The biggest fans of this pick should be linebackers Jamie Collins and Christian Kirksey.
