Rumor 3: Trading George Hill

George Hill‘s future was pretty much sealed when the Cavaliers drafted Collin Sexton in June’s draft. Now the organization will attempt to trade him. If they can’t a buyout could be possible, according to Amico Hoops’ Ashish Mathur.

Hill will earn $19 million next season playing for a squad that won’t be contending for the Eastern Conference title.

If the Cavs’ are going to rebuild, it’d be best to let Sexton take his lumps.

Naturally, sports fans like playing up the mentoring roll, with Hill showing Sexton the ropes.

Maybe it happens for a little while, maybe it doesn’t.

The Cavs will probably buy Hill out at some point, because he’s probably not going to be attractive in trade talks.

Hill’s defense was talked up upon his arrival to Cleveland, yet in the Finals, he struggled on both ends of the court. Stephen Curry averaged 24.3 points per game with Hill as his primary defender. He averaged just 7.5 points per game.

While Hill is due a lot of money this season, his contract could be valuable to some teams looking to create space after next season because his contract is guaranteed for just $1 million.

Don’t underestimate how important that is to a team looking to dump salary.
