Cleveland Indians: 4 outfielders to target before MLB trade deadline
Avisail Garcia, RF, White Sox
With the White Sox in the tank, Avisail Garcia would be a huge boost to the Indians lineup, as the 27-year-old would take care of the Tribe’s problem in right field.
Garcia’s appeared in just 34 games this season after some extended time on the DL with a thumb injury. But in the short amount of time he’s played, the right hander has knocked nine home runs. He’s batting .281 after hitting .330 he hit a year ago,
There is talk of Garcia being moved, and with the White Sox being so many years away from contending, you’ve got to wonder why the organization wouldn’t move him.
Garcia is due $6.7 million this season, and he’s under club control for next season, as he goes into his final season of arbitration.
Naturally, there will be talk of whether a trade can get done between two inter-division rivals.
Why not?
The White Sox and the Indians are in two different modes right now. Heck, the Indians should be nervous about the prospects they send Chicago’s way for Garcia coming back to hurt them in a few years!
With that said, the Tribe has a 70-year drought to wash away and Garcia shouldn’t cost the organization the moon.
