Nick Castellanos, RF, Tigers

The Tigers are in a rebuild and Nick Castellanos is still on the roster.

The other outfielders on this wish list aren’t necessarily game changers, but that can’t be said about Castellanos.

He’s batting .302 (.855 OPS) with 15 homers and 55 RBIs through July 7.

At $6.5 million, the Tribe can afford him, and they have his right for 2019 too, although Castellanos will probably be in line for a raise via arbitration.

With the rumor mill relatively quiet surrounding Castellanos, perhaps the wheels are in motion for the Indians to engineer a trade. It’s the deals you never hear about that actually come to fruition.

Plus, considering the Indians were in on trade talks to acquire J.D. Martinez before the 2017 MLB trade deadline, it wouldn’t be crazy to hear that GM Mike Chernoff was making moves to get something done.

With Castellanos in an Indians uniform, the corner outfield spots are secure and the lineup is already more dangerous than it already it is.

Don’t kid yourself though. With Castellanos under contract for one more year, the Tigers will be asking for a lot in return.
