Latest on Andrew McCutchen

With Adam Jones staying put in Baltimore, the Indians may turn their attention to another veteran outfielder in Andrew McCutchen, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

The Giants may be looking to shed free-agents-to-be and McCutchen fills a need for the Tribe.

The Yankees and Phillies are rumored to be the other teams in on the five-time All-Star.

McCutchen (1.0 WAR) is batting .258 with 10 homers (.760 OPS).

On the day of the trade deadline, San Francisco finds itself at 54-54 and 5.5 games out of first. However, a 10-14 July may have sealed the team’s fate. Look for McCutchen to be dealt.

McCutchen played center field during this “Hey Day” with the Pirates, but he’s been a fixture in right field this year with the Giants.

If the Indians were to acquire him, right field is where he should stay with the hope they add a more defensive oriented piece to center field.
