Update on Billy Hamilton

Fancred’s John Heyman wrote Billy Hamilton remains of interest to the Tribe.

Hamilton is an excellent center fielder and if he gets on base, look out. There’s no bigger threat in the game. But the guy just can’t hit, or get on base.

His defense would be worth his acquisition though. Fan Graphs rates Hamilton as the third best defensive center fielder in the game.

Speaking of the Reds, the Indians were linked to another player from the organization: Adam Duvall. I was higher on the right hander last year because Duvall mostly plays left field and the Indians shouldn’t mess with Michael Brantley.

Duvall ended up being traded to the Braves for some players whose stock has lowered from what it perviously once was.

As for Duvall, it appears his past (30 homers in 2016 and 2017) made him a commodity now. He’s got 15 this year but he’s hitting an ugly .205

Update on Cameron Maybin

Cameron Maybin‘s offensive numbers won’t do much to catch your attention as he’s batting .251 (.681 OPS), but his acquisition would be made to strengthen the defense in the outfield.

For what it’s worth, he’s having a nice month, batting .303 with a .439 slugging percentage entering July 30.

This season, Maybin’s played all around the outfield for the fledgling Marlins and he ranks 13th out of 78 outfielders who have played a minimum 500 innings.
