David Njoku

The biggest knock on David Njoku was his case of the dropsies. Well, Njoku had two catches in the preseason opener and they were both for touchdowns.

The Chief blew past linebacker Alec Ogletree to catch his first touchdown pass of the night from Taylor.

Mayfield and The Chief spilt the defense before halftime to give the Browns a 13-3 lead.

Njoku finished with two receptions for 46 yards.

The Miami product was brought to the Browns in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft to do what he did tonight.

No one will ever confuse him for being a blocking tight end, but he’s a mismatch nightmare for defenses and that’s never been more evident than it was against the Giants.

Njoku’s playing time is secure, but his performance in Game 1 of the preseason does a lot to ease the minds of Browns fans who are waiting for him to display a combination of consistency and playmaking ability.

Njoku is still young by NFL standards, even for this year’s rookie class. He’s 22 and won’t turn 23 until next July.
