These five members of the Cleveland Browns need a good game heading into NFL preseason Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills.

The Cleveland Browns won a game last week, and yes, while it was preseason, the victory had a different feel to it.

Most of us weren’t angry with what we saw on television from New York.

The Browns truly are making believers out of their depressed fan base with the hope that this organization has finally started trending upward.

That could all change of course with a drop-off in preseason Week 2, which is why these five players, in particular, need to ball out.

Antonio Callaway, WR

Antonio Callaway had offensive coordinator going ga-ga after his catch-and-run for a touchdown during the preseason opener.

Haley even sought out Jarvis Landry and asked the vet to mentor the rookie, noting that it’s something Larry Fitzgerald would do.

While we all wanted to give Callaway a yellow jacket after one good half, the truth is he’s got more to prove as the Browns try to figure out what they have in their receiving corps.

For as good as Callaway was on the second-half win against New York, he was miserable in the first half. Some of that may have been rust, while the weight of his traffic stop might have been a factor as well.

Now, Callaway must perform from the get-go. Expectations are high following his debut. He doesn’t need a two-touchdown game, but he needs to produce for quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield.

If Callaway balls out again, his performance may offer a hint as to what the Browns will do regarding free-agent receivers.

With Landry and Callaway cemented as starters, I would think the team would be less likely to bring in someone like Dez Bryant, especially because Josh Gordon may return (I think) at some point before the season.

With the emergence of Rashard Higgins and a dark horse named Jeff Janis laying in wait, Bryant might not be worth the headache.
