4. Chris Smith, DE

Chris Smith is another one of those “Who’s that?” guys.

You might say that to yourself because you always see his number in and around the action.

The defensive end had nice takedown behind the line of scrimmage and he consistently helped collapse the pocket.

Preseason Week 2 marks the second straight game Smith turned in a strong outing.

He started the Giants game in preseason Week 1 listed behind Myles Garrett on the depth chart, but moved over to Emmanuel Ogbah‘s spot.

In that contest, Smith didn’t disappoint, playing welling place of Ogbah, who left after the first string was done for the night.

Smith won’t be familiar to the casual Browns’ fan, but he’s quietly had a great camp and those practices are translating into games.

The Browns signed Smith to a three-year contract this past offseason. Smith was a fifth-round pick of the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Arkansas.

Smith’s deal is for three years at a cost of $12 million. According to Sportrac, $4.5 million of that sum is guaranteed.
