Genard Avery, DE

The Cleveland Browns were outstanding on defense and Genard Avery was, yet again, a big reason why.

Avery stripped the ball away from Nick Foles, which was recovered by Emmanuel Ogbah.

The Browns had four takeaways after having none during their first two preseason games.

Avery was drafted as a linebacker, and the day may come where he gets full-time reps at the position, but right now, the best spot for him is clearly on the EDGE, rushing the quarterback.

For what it’s worth, Avery was listed as the backup to Christian Kirksey as the Will linebacker.

Unfortunately, Avery left the game with a hamstring injury. Fortunately, he’s got 16 days to get healthy and get back on the field for the Browns’ opener against the Steelers.

For the third preseason game in a row, Avery is forcing people to talk about him because of what he’s done on the field.

Not bad for a fifth-round pick out of Memphis.
