3. The Buckeyes’ multi-threat offense will be able to dictate the pace

Being able to dictate the pace of the game is one of the most important qualities of a successful team.

It’s important for this game as the Horned Frogs like to move quickly and push the ball down the field. However, that’s where it ends for them as their offense is relatively one dimensional.

TCU operates solely through their quarterback. Sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson has been handed the keys to the offense after the departure of Kenny Hill last season. He currently leads the team in rushing and only one other player has a rushing touchdown besides himself.

This is certainly a problem as it seems they have not found a primary ball carrier. Three different players have carried the ball over 14 times with a grand total of 11 players who have rushed the ball so far this season. It’s clear their strength is not in the ground game.

The Buckeyes’ greatest advantage in this game will be running the football. This is important as the Horned Frogs’ claim to fame is their offense. If the Buckeyes can keep the Horned Frogs’ offense off the field as long as possible then that would be incredibly beneficial. This is done by running the ball and clock management.

Another reason why keeping the Horned Frogs’ offense off the field is important is because of the Buckeyes’ recent struggles with contain. The defense will not last a great deal of time against the Horned Frogs’ speed on offense.

This is where the Buckeyes’ offense holds the greatest advantage is their ability to dominate the ground game. Their dual rushing attack featuring Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins should be the focal point in slowing down this game. They’re each averaging over five yards per carry and have scored a combined four touchdowns on the ground.

The Buckeyes will need to control the pace of this game in order to frustrate the Horned Frogs.

Yes, the Buckeyes have the ability to keep up with their offense as well but it wouldn’t be a good idea to play to the opposing team’s strength when they don’t have to. Expect the Buckeyes to dominate the yardage on the ground on Saturday.
