Baker Mayfield

Only the Cleveland Browns, as favorites, could find themselves in a 14-point hole during a nationally televised game, at home, no less.

The Browns were going full-blown Browns before fate intervened.

Once Baker Mayfield entered the game, the fortunes of the Cleveland Browns changed forever.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner made quick decisions, was decisive in his throws, was accurate, and that arm strength. Whoa! It’s night and day when comparing that attribute to Tyrod Taylor.

Mayfield didn’t have a touchdown throw, but he was 17 of 21 for 203 yards after taking over late in the second quarter.

The future is now for the Browns, who have found their quarterback of the present in Mayfield.

When he entered the game, all of the problems that had plagued Cleveland’s offense magically disappeared.

All of a sudden, the offensive line didn’t look so bad. The quarterback wasn’t running for his life because the rookie was better at making snap decisions than the veteran.

Carlos Hyde was finding holes to run through.  The Browns best receiver, Jarvis Landry, was being accurately targeted.

There’s sure to be bumps in the road for Mayfield just because of his inexperience, but it’s ride that needs to continue throughout the season because it’s a trip worth taking.
