Cleveland Indians realistic trade proposals that would improve outfield
2. Kyle Schwarber, LF, Cubs
Both the Cubs and Indians had severely disappointing postseasons. Both have needs and the 2016 World Series adversaries may be able to help each other out.
Chicago has a nice stash of outfield sticks, and need pitching. The Indians have pitching, but need to majorly overhaul the outfield for 2019.
We all got to know Kyle Schwarber during the 2016 World Series. It turns out, Joe Buck was wrong and the Middletown, Ohio native isn’t actually the second coming of Babe Ruth.
With that said, he’s a good player who could help the Indians.
He hit 28 bombs last season and batted .238. The average sounds bad, but consider he actually raised his average 27 points from the 2017 campaign.
Schwarber also got it done defensively and was credited with 11 outfield assists, which was second in the NL behind Yasiel Puig (12).
He also had 10 fewer strikeouts this season compared to last year, despite having 24 more plate appearances in 2018.
Schwarber is under team control for the next three seasons, so it’s definitely in the realm of possibility for the Tribe to part with one of their starters to bring him on board.
