I just got done blasting Urban Meyer for this. Penalties come down to discipline. And the Browns had 13 of them.

At one point in the game, three defensive flags on third down resulted in Buccaneer first downs.

For a coach who badly needs to win games, that is a way to truly dig yourself your own grave.

Jackson has to be feeling some pressure. Despite the Browns looking better, there’s still a gray cloud of losing hanging over the franchise. The team’s now dropped 24 straight road games, with their last victory coming in 2015.

And the Browns still haven’t won back-to-back games since 2014.

I just think the longer the clouds of losing hang over Jackson’s head, the hotter his seat will get.

I think Jackson’s starting to feel the pressure, too. How else do you explain him jumping back into the offensive game planning. It isn’t clear yet if he’s going to to take away play calling duties from Todd Haley.

What is clear though as that Jackson is drawing his line in the sand and establishing himself as THE coach.

This is how it works out: Jackson takes over more of a role in the offense and the Browns lose, sealing his fate. He’ll have out leveraged Haley, who was picked by John Dorsey to take the play calling away from Jackson.

Or

Jackson plays more of a role in the offense and the unit starts clicking. All of a sudden, his stock goes up in the Browns’ building.

This one thing is true though: The coach knows he’s got nine games to get it right.
