5 Cleveland Browns whose stock is down after Week 8 loss to Steelers
5. Gregg Williams
Where was the pass rush? You know, the one that rattled Ben Roethlisberger in Week 1. Pressure was coming from everywhere. Myles Garrett looked like NFL Defensive MVP. Genard Avery looked like a star.
Not anymore.
The Cleveland Browns were credited with quarterback hit for the entire game, and that came on Myles Garrett’s sack of Big Ben.
Did anyone else remember seeing Emmanuel Ogbah out there? What about the linebackers coming up to help an unstoppable James “Don’t Call me John” Conner?
Garrett complained after the game that the Browns never should’ve switched their approach that led to six turnovers against Pittsburgh in the first meeting between these two squads.
Williams deployed a three-safety scheme that worked relatively well on the first three drives, highlighted by a Derek Kindred interception. For a feather in Williams’ cap, Kindred was one of the extra safeties.
But that was it. Big Ben dissected the Browns and continue to own the franchise that passed him over for Kellen Winslow Jr. during the 2004 NFL Draft.
