Five reasons an eternal optimist may give the Cleveland Browns a chance against Patrick Mahomes and mighty Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9.

Same old Cleveland Browns?

With Oddshark listing Cleveland as an 8.5-point underdog at home, no less, against the Kansas City Chiefs, it certainly looks that way.

The Chiefs have big plans for later this year, with many predicting a path to the Super Bowl behind strong-armed quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Meanwhile the Browns have been bitten by disfunction resulting in owner Jimmy Haslam firing his head coach Hue Jackson, and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

It’s crazy to think there was playoff talk surrounding this team just two weeks ago. But now at 2-5-1, the Browns are basically playing not to have a top-3 pick in next spring’s NFL Draft.

Losing this one might clear the path for that to happen. After Kansas City, Cleveland plays Atlanta and then heads into the bye.

Does anyone think Cleveland will win again this season if they don’t win one more before the Bye Week?

No pressure, interim head coach Gregg Williams and new offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens.
