5 current NFL coaches who could coach Cleveland Browns in 2019
4. Sean McVay, Rams
This isn’t me saying Sean McVay should be the next head coach of the Browns. It’s the one and only Sports Illustrated.
This all stems from SI picking up on Oddshark, showing McVay, for a brief moment, was Vegas’ favorite to be named as the Browns next head coach.
About an hour later, the odds adjusted, and McVay dropped down to fifth, while Rams’ quarterback coach Zac Taylor became the odds-on-favorite to land the job.
Impossible to land McVay? No. Improbable. Yes.
But anything’s possible in today’s crazy world of sports. I mean, I don’t think people realize just how close the Browns were to trading for Jim Harbaugh, who was then coaching the 49ers, back when Mike Lombardi was running the personnel department.
McVay would be a dream catch, but it’s unrealistic, unless the Rams get blinded by draft picks and make a swap.
It’s more likely one of his coordinators gets poached by the Browns. There’s the aforementioned Taylor, and then there’s passing game coordinator/tight ends coach Shane Waldron.
McVay recently addressed how attractive his assistant coaches may look to a team looking for a coach, like the Browns.
