5. Dwayne Haskins and the offense will bounce back

The strength of this Ohio State football team is the offense.

There’s no two ways about it as the Buckeyes have given up a considerable amount of yardage to opposing teams defensively in just about every game this season, except Rutgers, of course. It’s mind numbing how the Buckeyes have finally reached new heights offensively but have fallen to the worst they’ve ever been defensively.

This game is important for both sides of the ball but it all starts with the offense in this one. It’s not even reasonable at this point to expect the defense to provide some flare to kick start the team so the only way the Bucks can regain momentum is to flex their guns on offense. This won’t be difficult as the Buckeyes can easily provide why they’re the undisputed conference leader in total offense.

Just because production has been down doesn’t mean the Bucks still don’t have some of the best offensive talent in the country.

Dwayne Haskins is still in consideration for the Heisman Trophy. Despite an ugly loss, Haskins had a relatively productive game despite the mishaps derived from the rest of the team.

Though he did have to throw it a whopping 73 times, he still had 470 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s not without blame though. Haskins misfired on a number of throws. Ultimately, he led drives that failed to result in touchdowns.

Against Purdue, when Ohio State needed things to go right, they didn’t.

Missed passes and lapses on defense have turned the tables against the Bucks which has had a noticeable effect on them.

This game will be a good opportunity to work out some of those errors as the Cornhuskers have an even softer defense than the ones Ohio State’s faced recently.

The Cornhuskers rank second to last in the Big Ten in total defense. This Buckeye offense should have plenty of opportunities to rebound against a much lesser unit. Expect the Buckeyes to rev up the offense and roll this weekend.
