Cleveland Indians: Pros, cons of 5 trade proposals for Kluber, Carrasco
4. Cubs
Castrovince talks up the idea of a Kluber for Kris Bryant deal, but then quickly nixes the idea as “fun.”
Then he gets into something I wrote about in this column, mainly a deal for Kyle Schwarber, the power hitting corner outfielder.
The Indians were tied to Schwarber trades last offseason, but interestingly, Castrovince noted the Indians would be shining a shiner apple this time around.
Last year, they were trying to peddle damaged goods in Danny Salazar. Considering the season, or lack of a season Salazar just had thanks to shoulder problems, you can understand why the Cubs were hesitant.
But now the Indians have Kluber or Carrasco to offer, and all these guys do is eat inning and contend for Cy Young Awards.
Should they do it? I’ve already written this is a deal the Indians need to explore. You’re gettin Schwarber to hit in the postseason, and we’re already well aware he can do it.
5. Astros
Castrovince lists uber prospect Kyle Tucker as the starting point in this deal.
In a fascinating tale regarding this mostly unknown player (to the Cleveland fan base), Castrovince wrote his swing was so similar to Ted Williams, that he was used in a documentary made about the baseball hall of fame.
He had a .990 OPS at Triple-A last season (100 games) and the Indians would likely have to offer up some additional prospects to complete a deal.
Should they do it? The Astros beat up on Kluber in the ALDS. Perhaps the Indians would have the same luck?
