Cleveland Indians: 5 most likely landing spots for Michael Brantley
San Francisco Giants
It was the thinking of many that the San Fransisco Giants were going to contend in the AL West during the 2018 campaign.
Instead, the club lost 89 games.
Now, armed with a big bank account, the Giants are rumored to be making some waves in the free-agent market.
At the onset of the postseason, the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo shared an opinion that the Giants would be a good landing spot for Brantley, should San Francisco lose out on Bryce Harper.
There have been plenty of rumors as to which teams have offered Brantley, but the Giants haven’t come up in any reports have interest..yet.
San Francisco has some younger players they tried out in 2018, notably 2015 first-rounder Chris Shaw in left field. In a 22-game sample size, Shaw hit a .185.
Brantley could easily fit into the Giants’ lineup as a proven .300 hitter.
Something else that shouldn’t be lost on any possible interest is that the Giants wouldn’t have to surrender a draft pick to sign Brantley, since the Indians didn’t extend one following the season.
