5 Cleveland Browns whose stock is up after upset win over Falcons
4. Greg Robinson, LT
Pro Football Focus was critical of Greg Robinson for the two holding calls he committed on the same possession, and they’re right. That can’t happen.
But is anyone that distressed with how the former No. 2 overall pick played?
The Browns still like Desmond Harrison, who was inactive Sunday with an “illness,” but Robinson just does something to the offense line. Perhaps it the added bulk. For as athletic as Harrison is, he’s under 300 pounds and the rookie was getting bull rushed quite a bit.
That hasn’t been the case with Robinson in the game, and the proof is in the sack numbers. Mayfield was running for his life, as mostly, both of his tackles (Chris Hubbard at RT) made every drop back a reason to hold our collective breaths.
Robinson’s been solid, but by no means does this mean the Browns should avoid addressing the tackle situation in the upcoming draft.
Good organizations find a way to take a tackle–not in the first round–develop them and then insert them into the lineup when ready.
We’ll see how the rest of the season goes, but Harrison, and Robinson, especially, of late, have given the Browns a reason not to draft a tackle early in the first round.
So what happens when Harrison is healthy?
Robinson’s got to stay in the game, because Baker’s already signed off on it. He praised Robinson after the Chiefs game and was complimentary following the victory over Atlanta, via 247Sports.
"“Yeah. I think when you are not having to worry about the rush as much, you are able to get comfortable back there and I was just able to be decisive and get the ball out quickly. It helps having Greg in there. He played great again,” Mayfield said."
The Browns need lots of good players because the good teams always have depth. What’s in Robinson’s future? Well, he’s got six more games to prove he should be the man.
