Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield make quick work of Bengals: Game grades
By Ric McElroy
Defense
It’s hard to gauge the defense in this one because of the lead the Browns possessed.
But when the game was still a game (for a little while in the first half), the unit produced two turnovers, most notably Damarious Randall‘s interception. The safety stepped out of bounds and handed the ball to Hue Jackson, showing up the former coach.
The unit went into soft coverage for the entire second half. The defense was happy to go into the prevent defense, allowing Cincinnati to rack up countless short passes over the middle.
Do that long enough, and the opposition may sneak up on you.
Unfortunately, those receivers caught some of those balls in space, and recorded some decent yards after the catch.
Down 15, the Bengals looked poised to cut the deficit to possibly seven, until the Browns finally got a stop late in the fourth quarter.
Myles Garrett recorded his 10th sack of the season.
Overall grade: B
