Five reason the Cleveland Browns will bounce back against the Carolina Panthers, who enter the contest having lost four straight.

The Cleveland Browns return to First Energy Stadium with a matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

A month ago, this game was shaping up to be a debacle for the men in orange helmets.

But the Panthers have fallen on tough times, and now it appears as if coach Ron Rivera is coaching for his job.

After being 6-2, the Panthers are 6-6. Came Newton seems banged up and tight end Greg Olsen is out. Carolina coach Ron River had to fire one of his top lieutenants on defense, while taking over play calling duties in an effort to salvage the year.

The Browns will have to worry about Christian McCaffrey, who is currently the Panthers top offensive weapon, which doesn’t bode well for a defense that was gashed by the Texans running game one week ago.

The Panthers rank second in the NFL, averaging 140 yards per game on the ground.

Historically, the Browns don’t play the Panthers all that well, with Carolina owning the 4-1 advantage. Cleveland’s lone win against the franchise came in October 2010 during a 24-23 win.

In the past, December is where losses pile up for the Browns, but Carolina is 1-5 on the road. If there were every a time for Cleveland to get off the December schnide this would be it.
