2019 Cleveland Browns: 5 trades to make this offseason, OBJ-less edition
Browns receive 201 9 fifth-round pick
Falcons receive Jamie Collins, LB
UPDATE: Jamie Collins was released by the Browns March 6.
This idea was floated by 247Sports‘ James Parks, and it’s good idea because the Browns, based off recent reports, would like to move on from Jamie Collins, and the Falcons possess a need.
Parks noted how a deal would hinge on Collins re-working his current deal with the Browns in order to make him more traceable. No team wants to take on his $10.5 million salary this season considering his production output. Pro Football Focus listed Collins fourth in missed tackles during the 2018 season.
The fourth-round pick wouldn’t do much for the Browns, who already have 10 draft choices heading into the 2019 NFL Draft.
With that said, having extra picks would afford the Browns an opportunity to move in the draft. It may not be the first round, but the second or third rounds could also be options.
Collins just wasn’t player Cleveland thought they were getting when he was acquired by the Sashi Brown-led Browns during the 2016 season. At times, he’d flash with an occasional stunning play, but too often, he’d disappear and look disinterested.
