Keith Reaser is the best corner in the AAF, and it’s not even close. He’s been targeted 22 targeted this season and he’s got three interceptions to show for it. Plus he’s only given up eight catches for 78 yards. None of those receptions have gone for touchdowns he possesses a passer rating of 7.6, according to Pro Football Focus.

The next highest graded corner, Cody Riggs, carries an 81.1 grade entering March 15.

Cynics will correctly argue that Reaser is facing weaker talent in the AAF, and it’s hard to argue that point. He’s been defending balls thrown by Luis Perez and Josh Woodrum the last two weeks, not Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

With that said, he’s playing who’s in front of him.

Reaser, 27, played collegiately at Florida Atlantic and was a fifth-round pick of the 49ers during the 2014 draft. If you’re looking for a connection, look no further than the 2017 campaign, when Reaser played briefly for the Chiefs when John Dorsey was still the general manager in Kansas City.

Corner is still an issue for the Browns, evidenced by their recent interest in free agents Kevin Johnson and Bradley Roby. Look for Dorsey to add a prospect here or there in the draft, but pending a major free-agent signing, Cleveland looks to get into the season with Denzel Ward and Terrance Mitchell at corner, with T.J. Carrie getting the first crack at the slot.

Ward was excellent in his rookie campaign, although multiple concussions left a gray cloud over his future. Mitchell was also lost for  a good chunk of the season, so it’s imperative Cleveland find some stability.

Reaser’s most prolific NFL seasons came in d 2016 with the 49ers. He played in 15 games and totaled 23 tackles and five deflections.

This is what the AAF is for, to take a second look at a guy. Why wouldn’t anyone want to the league’s top corner to at least come to their camp for an audition?
