Cleveland Browns 2019 two-round NFL mock draft: Post OBJ trade edition
By Mike Graham
A two-round mock draft building up to who the Cleveland Browns will take with 49th pick in wake of the massive trade for Odell Beckham Jr.
We are a few weeks removed from the trade that has spun the city of Cleveland and the NFL into a whirlwind. Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland for the 17th pick, 95th pick and Jabrill Peppers.
We can say now that wide receiver, which was really a secondary need, is now a super luxury for this team.
So, what does the draft look like now with the main wave of free agency is over? The Giants, now with an extra first-round pick may be looking for Eli Manning‘s replacement as quarterback prospects seemingly gaining more buzz over the last month.
As for the Browns, it’s really weird not having a first-round pick as many a fan has obsessed over mock drafts trying to predict who would be Cleveland’s next first-round pick.
Thankfully, the Browns nailed their first rounder last season, selecting Baker Mayfield. His selection and then his play, is the sun of the Browns’ solar system. With Mayfield, and really, a franchise quarterback under center, things just seem to get easier.
For example, the Browns wouldn’t be in a position to trade for a player like OBJ with Mayfield. Think back to 2017. Would you really want to team up a personality like Beckham’s with DeShone Kizer? Life was hard enough for the Toldeo product. Now imagine OBJ badgering him for the ball.
That’s not the case with Baker, as with every games he appears to be the money player the Browns have been searching for ever since Bernie Kosar was released in 1993.
As for this mock draft, this edition will be a two rounder because, of course we need to see who’s around when the Browns are picking in round 2, and beyond. Warning, there are trades, so let’s get this latest Cleveland Browns mock draft rolling.
Additionally, look for my Browns’ third- through seventh-round projections at the end.
