5. Jamel Dean, Auburn

Jamel Dean is another player with an Ohio State connection that didn’t conclude with a happy ending. He was ruled medically disqualified to play for the Buckeyes due to multiple knee injuries.

Even with those knee injuries, everyone still wanted him! Dean ended up going to another football factory in Auburn where he tore the ACL in his other knee during the 2016 campaign.

The injuries are a concern, but give the kid credit, he works his way back. And…he can still burn, posting a 4.3 second 40-yard dash time.

Pro Football Focus is a big fan of Dean, grading him at 80.8 for the 2018 campaign after he picked off two passes while breaking up nine others. Quarterbacks looked rather pedestrian when going in his direction with just a 60.0 passer rating.

Dean had a great combine and there are some who think that bumped his stock into the second round. However, considering the injuries, I’d be more included to wait until the third (80th overall).

With that said, there’s a good chance he won’t be around because as the stats show, the guy can play when on the field. Armed with three fifth-round picks, it wouldn’t be out of the questions for the Browns to move up in, say, the third round.

Of all the players on the list, Dean may be the prospect most ready to help out in a pinch. Following two concussions for Denzel Ward during his rookie the season, the Browns have to bolster spot in the defensive backfield.
