Lots of long balls
Look for Mayfield to continue sling the ball downfield, especially considering John Dorsey gave him Odell Beckham Jr. to be his primary target.
On throws of 20 yards or more between the numbers, Mayfield ranked the best among his fellow quarterbacks, according to Pro Football Focus,
Mayfield earned a 93.6 passing grade in this department after going 13-of-24 for 490 yards, five touchdowns and two picks.
He wasn’t too shabby outside the numbers either, completing 11-of-24 passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns and one interception on deep throws to the right, earning a 95.9 grade.
On the left side, Mayfield was just 8-of-24, but still earned a 90.9 grade for throwing three touchdowns and just one pick.
After seeing this stats, I couldn’t help but think of Breshard Perriman. The new Buccaneer revived his career by catching some of these deep throws by Mayfield. And now, OBJ, as well as Callaway, should give him plenty of opportunities to hit home runs on deep balls.
