There are four mistakes haunting the Cleveland Indians who now trail the Twins by 3.0 games in the American League Central Division.

Frankly, it’s a miracle the Cleveland Indians have won 18 games at this point. The team has no offense and has all its eggs in the baskets of its starting pitchers. Two of those eggs already broke, which means the chances to hang a fourth-straight AL Central flag in the outfield decreased dramatically.

It hasn’t helped that the few proven commodities are struggling Terry Francona tells us Jose Ramirez will hit, and maybe he will. He’s hit safely in his last five and seven of his last eight games.  He’s reach based in his last 15 straight contests.

Francisco Lindor missed all of Spring Training with a calf, and then ankle injury. He has four homers since he’s been back, but is batting .238.

Jason Kipnis, too, continues to look for a bat that’s been missing for the better part of two years. He’s now hitting .190 in 68 plate appearances.

The Indians find themselves 3.0 games behind the Twins as of May 7, which is frustrating because Minnesota made an effort to get better during the offseason, while the Indians tore things down while the window to compete for another postseason berth was wide open.

Now the Indians, who are toiling in their second month with mostly unproductive position players and with a rotation that’s missing two starters due to injury.

The Tribe did a lot of things to make the bed they’re currently laying in, but these are the three biggest mistakes.
