Cleveland Browns: 5 Biggest offseason workout winners
3. Ishmael Hyman, WR
ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi called Ishmael Hyman a “Revelation” during the mini camp session.
Hyman, an alum of the short-lived Alliance of American Football received first-team reps with offense because the starters were out. Jarvis Landry is nursing some kind of minor injury, while OBJ also sat out some (Kitchens’ decision).
The Browns are loaded at wide receiver with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry atop the depth chart. Second-year veteran Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins round out the next two spots, so that leaves two spots open.
This isn’t to say Hyman’s going to make the team, but he’s a guy 99.9 percent of Browns’ fans wouldn’t know if they were standing next to him on Euclid Avenue and yet there he was, taking first-team reps with Baker Mayfield.
Hyman, 6-foot, 196 pounds, played his college ball at Jame Madison where he caught 72 passes for 1,061 and 12 touchdowns. He went undrafted in 2018, but was able to land in the AAF. He’s a former teammate of current Browns’ backup quarterback, Garrett Gilbert. The two played together for the Orlando Apollos.
