8 potential cuts Cleveland Browns may watch waiver wire for in 2019
By Mike Graham
5. Panthers’ Bryan Cox Jr. and Vernon Butler
Perhaps Bryan Cox Jr. will be an option as a backup end.
Cox Jr. was rated as “below average” by PFF, but if he was good, Carolina wouldn’t be giving him away for nothing in return. Cox has played in 18 games over the past two seasons, so the Browns would looking at him from a potential standpoint.
Vernon Butler is also another name to watch. He’s another former first-round pick from his time in Carolina.
Butler, in my opinion may be the next option should Daniels decide to play elsewhere or the Browns decide to move in a different direction.
Butler carried a grade of 63.5 according to Pro Football Focus. The analytically oriented website gave him a grade of 69.9 in defending against the run, which was his highest graded attribute.
I’ll be back in a few weeks to go over camp battles and project a 53 man roster.
