5.Greg Joseph, K

When you’re in a position battle, you’ve got to make the most of every opportunity.

Greg Joseph failed to do so when he missed the point after attempt following Sheehy-Guiseppi’s 86-yard punt return.

Those are supposed to be the gimmes, and as Tim Couch noted on the broadcast, when you’re fighting for a job, this misses stand out.

Earlier in the game, Joseph had made a 43 yarder, in addition to converting an additional extra point.

Fears still exist though, as you’ve got to wonder how he’ll react under pressure when the games start counting and he couldn’t even make a point after in garbage time with the Browns winning by 20.

His competition, Austin Seibert, was 2-for-2 on point after attempts.

So one preseason game into the kicking competition and basically’s nothing changed. Joseph continues to be who we think he is, while Seibert is still untested.

For al the moves John Dorsey made during the offseason, his failure to secure an established kicker doesn’t make sense. It’s an extremely important position that cost the Browns G-A-M-E-S, I repeat, stressing the plural, GAMES, last season.

For all the talent that’s been added to the roster, it will be a huge disappointment to see the kicking game set this team back.
