The third preseason game is here and it couldn’t get here soon enough for fans of the Cleveland Browns who hope to see the starters play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in preseason Week 3.

The lead-up to the game has been dominated by headlines for headlines Browns’ superstars are making off the field.

Baker Mayfield dogged Daniel Jones in a story for GQ, while Odell Beckham Jr. said the Giants sent him to Cleveland “To die” in a story for Sports Illustrated.

Two things: Mayfield said what everybody else in the world did because the Giants took a guy from Duke who lost more than he won!

As for OBJ…I know Jarvis Landry made similar comments a year ago at this time about former Dolphins coach Adam Gase sending players to Cleveland as “Punishment.” But the Browns were a much different team at the time of the trade, so OBJ’s comments make no sense for card carrying members of the Dawg Pound.

If he needs that chip on his shoulder to show up and show out on a weekly basis, so be it.

As for on the field Mayfield will probably play, but your guess is as good as mine when it comes to whether or not we’ll finally get to see OBJ in a game.

The contest, regarded as the dress rehearsal for Week 1 of the regular season, will give starters a chance to get some action in before Week 1, while position battles get sorted out, as well.
