1. Mack Wilson, LB

In his second effort as a pro, linebacker Mack Wilson did continue to flash the talent that has some screaming the Browns found a sleeper in the second round of last spring’s draft.

But Wilson did struggle with some fundamentals, and head coach Freddie Kitchens sought him out after a Colts’ touchdown drive for allowing a missed tackle.

Against Indianapolis, Wilson had a stellar play in which he got into the backfield to take down Indy’s running back. The week before, he had two interceptions  against the Redskins. He’s getting behind the line of scrimmage and looking like a defensive back in coverage.

A great game vs the Buccaneers probably won’t push him past Joe Schobert or Christian Kirksey, but it certainly keeps him on track to receive significant playing time once the regular season gets rolling.

And when the games start to matter, the linebacking corps won’t get any less interesting.

It sure seems like the Browns are going to deploy a lot of two-linebacker schemes with an extra defensive back.

The truth is Wilson has been a find and you don’t need an analytics study to tell you other wise. If you’ve watched the past two games, you’ve noticed him. That means he’s around the ball and in the action.

Here’s hoping that continues against Tampa at Raymond James Stadium.
