The wide receiver position has been one of the bright spots of camp with so many player stepping up in an attempt to claim the fifth and sixth spots on the depth chart.

Entering camp, Ratley was a favorite to win one of those spots, but a lengthy hamstring injury has given other players an opportunity to get noticed.

Recently, D.J. Montgomery is the the latest wideout to emerge, as he was Cleveland’s most productive receiver in Indianapolis.

The media group think emanating out Berea indicates Ratley still has enough time to win a roster spot, especially because he’s 2018 draft pick of general manager John Dorsey.

He’s also got to contend with Derrick Willies, the big 6-foot-4 receiver had just one touchdown in Indy, but it went for a touchdown. Willies had been running with the first team prior to the Colts game and may get to do so again after his touchdown grab.

The way the receiving corps breaks down, the only locks are Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins. Jaelan Strong seems to be picking up momentum as a fourth receiver.

Assuming Ratley doesn’t get lost in the preseason, he should be able to reclaim his spot, which would then lead me to believe Willies also makes the team.

Willies has size that the rest of the receiving corps seems to lack and with the tight end position looking like a disaster, Baker Mayfield could use a big target down near the red zone.
