Cleveland Browns: 5 players whose stock is down after Buccaneers loss
5. Chris Hubbard, RT
Right guard Chris Hubbard completes the tri-fecta for the linemen corps by appearing on this list. The position group really as terrible, though, and deserves a spot on this list.
Remember that interception Mayfield threw at the end of the first half when he took that hit from former Brown Carl Nassib?
Well, here’s Hubbard trying to block, and as Jake Burns pointed out, the Browns’ right tackle just stops moving his feet, which allowed Nassib to take an easy path to Mayfield.
Tampa deployed a 3-4 defensive scheme, and maybe that was the root of the Browns’ offensive line woes. It’s not like it was a surprise though.
There’s really no one to replace Hubbard on the offensive line, unless your on the Browns’ Twitterverse wave to trade for Redskins’ left tackle Trent Williams and then move Gregg Robison to Hubbard’s spot at right tackle.
With the offensive line in disarray, Mayfield posted an awful 30.6 quarterback rating and was an ugly 10-of-26 for 72 yards.
Yes this was without Odell Beckham Jr. Jarvis Landry, David Njoku and Nick Chubb, but the line…they were all starters.
With the season opener just around the corner, the woes of the offensive line may be even a bigger deal than what’s going on at the kicker position.
