Anthony Zettel, EDGE

The starters look unstoppable. Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, Sheldon Richardson and Larry Ogunjobi all looked poised for Pro Bowl seasons.

The preseason has done wonders to calm the nerves of those who were worried about the depth on the defensive line.

Chris Smith has been a beast on the edge, and the Browns have to be hoping Chad Thomas can make good on being a third-round draft pick back in 2018.

Genard Avery shouldn’t be forgotten either when it comes to generating pressure on the edge.

With the starters and backups looking strong, Zettel faces an uphill battle to make the team.

Even if he plays lights out, I’m not sure he’d be able to bump anybody off the roster.

Smith is probably the No. 1 reset on the edge, while the Browns have too much invested in Thomas.

The Browns are expected to keep nine defensive lineman, and with five of those players being on the EDGE, it’s hard to see how Zettel remains a Brown.

If he is released, look for Zettel to be picked up elsewhere. Zettel was excellent against the Buccaneers, racking up a 79.5 game grade from PFF, which is considered to be “very good.”
