1. Mayfield sets single-season TD record

Baker Mayfield enters the season having broke Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson‘s single-season record for touchdown passes by a rookie, and now, the veteran is poised to go onto bigger and better things.

Look for Mayfield to break the Browns’ single-season touchdown passing record, a mark currently held by legend Brian Sipe. Sipe threw for 30 touchdowns when the Kariac Kids had the city on a constant defibrillator in 1980.

In his projections for 2019, ESPN’s Mike Clay projected Mayfield to throw for 31 touchdowns in 2019, and even that seems low.

Mayfield got 27 last year and didn’t even get into game action until Week 3 of his rookie campaign when he pressed into action following an injury to Tyrod Taylor on that memorable Thursday night game.

Then he had to deal with the whatever nonsense was taking place between head coach Hue Jackson and Todd Haley. The rookie truly didn’t flourish until Freddie Kitchens took over as offensive coordinator halfway through the season.

With Kitchens now the head coach, Mayfield finds himself in an environment where the sun, moon and the stars revolve around him.

With Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry as his top two targets, it would almost be a disappointment if he doesn’t break Sipe’s mark.
