Ohio State football: 5 reasons Bucks will dial up beatdown of Cincinnati

4. The Buckeyes will build off their mistakes
The Buckeyes were able to easily secure a win last weekend but that was not without some mistakes. The offense committed two turnovers in last weekend’s victory. Fortunately, these mistakes came when the Buckeyes were holding onto a comfortable lead but this is an issue that needs addressed nonetheless.
The first turnover was a fumble from Justin Fields and the second was just two drives later with J.K. Dobbins fumbling. It was the defense that picked up after these mistakes which kept the Buckeyes ahead. The Owls were only able to convert one of these turnovers into points as they made a field goal right before half.
On the other hand, the Buckeyes’ defense only accounted for one turnover. It’s not always necessary for the Buckeyes to rely on a short field in order to score points but creating more opportunities to have a shorter field is always a plus. However, it will be especially important for the Buckeyes to feed off of the Bearcats’ mistakes as they have been susceptible to making them frequently.
The Bearcats were 80th in the nation in giveaways last season. These giveaways didn’t come by interceptions but more so from fumbles among other turnovers. The Buckeyes’ defensive line shouldn’t have too difficult of a time making way against the Bearcats as the Buckeyes’ top tier talent at the position will prevail. This unit led by defensive end Chase Young should cause some havoc in the backfield to create errors.
Many of the Bearcats’ starters will be returning which will be a blessing and a curse. Their tendency to turn the ball over shall give the Buckeyes a decent advantage in this game and opportunities to take over early. The Buckeyes rank 32nd in the nation in turnover margin. Expect the Buckeyes to minimize errors while causing the Bearcats to give the game away
