2. The Bearcats’ offense cannot keep up with the Buckeyes

Though defense has been a major concern for the Buckeyes, offense can have the ability to make up for these mistakes. This is especially true in the college setting where having firepower on offense is king. Just ask the Oklahoma Sooners and the Big 12, they know plenty about offense and not worrying too much about defense.

The Buckeyes had to lean on their offense much of last season. They were successful doing it as they won nearly every shootout they were in but it stopped them from being great. Defense wins championships which is why Clemson and Alabama are consistently in the running but offense will get your team up there.

Fortunately, Justin Fields has already proven his ability to carry the Buckeyes until we find out if this defense is real or not. His entourage on offense has also proven to be worthy as he hit three different receivers for touchdowns. Running back J.K. Dobbins also had a very solid game with 91 yards and a touchdown of his own.

This offense is already up to speed and ready to play. This is great news as the Bearcats are returning many of their own starters on offense. As noted earlier, they will be returning quarterback Desmond Ridder. He will be joined by two of his leading rushers Michael Warren II and Charles McClelland. The Bearcats will also be returning leading receiver Josiah Deguara who is a tight end.

The Bearcats were great in the rushing game last season at 17th in the nation. Running back Michael Warren II led the charge for them last season and will do so again. He also handles a lot of work as a pass catcher and can make moves in the open.

However, their passing game struggled as they were merely 86th in the nation. The Buckeyes were the best passing offense in the nation last season and figure to be near the same now. Expect the Buckeyes to outclass the Bearcats offensively.
