By the time Cooper Kupp caught the Rams final touchdown with 12:48 remaining in the game, the slot receiver had already been a nightmare for the Browns. Serving as Jared Goff‘s safety valve, Kupp caught important ball, after important ball, often times extending drives pro the Rams.

So when LA went to the lime of scrimmage at the 6-yard line with receivers bunched to the right, it seemed pretty obvious they would look for Kupp over the middle.

Goff and Kupp connected on the easiest touchdown they’ll score all season, all thanks to Jermaine Whitehead.

Whitehead tried to jam Kupp at the line, but did nothing other than to send him the direction he wanted to go, giving him an easy opportunity for six.

Whitehead also committed a big-time penalty with a late hit on Goff, as the Rams’ quarterback was diving forward to extend a play.

Whitehead has been a regular player this season, but the Browns were counting him to help shore up the safety position because of the devastating injuries in the secondary.

Whitehead was playing in place of Morgan Burnett. As mentioned, it wasn’t his first playing time of the season. He grew into favor during the offseason as a third safety, when the Browns deployed two linebackers.
