Cleveland Browns: 5 Browns whose stock plummeted after Rams’ loss
3. Greg Robinson
Imagine if Joe Thomas were still on this team. How dramatically would it be?
After solidifying the offensive line a season ago, Robinson continues to struggle in his second season with the Browns.
Chris Collinsworth said it best during one play late in the game, regarding the Browns’ tackle situation, in general.
The SNF broadcaster basically said the inconsistent of the tackles is making Mayfield hear footsteps, and he’s leaving the pocket early. This was especially true on Sunday night, as the Browns were starting career interior swingman Justin McCray at right tackle in place of the injured Chris Hubbard.
On the final play of the game, Robinson looked like an old turnstile from Cleveland Municipal Stadium, as Dante Fowler blew right by him, forcing Mayfield to the right on a hurried attempt to Damion Ratley that was intercepted.
Robinson, who is on a one-year contract, will continue to be the starting left tackle because the Browns have nobody else to step in. The offensive line is banged up enough with injuries to Hubbard and backup tackle Kendall Lamm.
Cleveland can’t afford to lose Robinson, even though is play hasn’t been up to par.
