6. Explore Hand trade

Like Kluber, the Indians have to explore a trade of Brad Hand. His trade value has to be low following a September in which his arm went “tired” and he missed a significant chunk of time.

That said, he did make the All-Star team and has two years left on his deal. Perhaps a team will be interested. They probably won’t be, but it doesn’t hurt to feel out the market.

It’s more likely Hand returns to the Tribe and he’ll be given the chance to regain his All-Star form. If things don’t go as planned in 2020, then the Indians can go back to the trade market before the 2020 deadline.

Hand’s name was floated in trade rumors before last July’s deadline and it confused some fans because he had been such an important piece of the bullpen up to that point. Relievers have it one minute, and then lose it the next. You can’t help but wonder if the Indians regret not moving him, now.

Andrew Miller was considered a bullpen ace by the end of 2016. His career started trending the wrong way after that though. He did rebound nicely with Cardinals this season, though.

If he does regain his form, then you’ve got to like the prospect unit fronted by  Hand, Carlos Carrasco and James Karinchak.

Oliver Perez‘s option vested, so he’ll likely be back. Adam Cimber, who came over with Hand in the Francisco Mejia trade, will also return.
