4. Myles Garrett

While Baker Mayfield has been sacked 16 times in five games, Russell Wilson has been brought down 13 times.

The Seahawks actually have a higher adjusted sack rate (8.6 to 7.7), according to Football Outsiders. This stat takes into account sacks (plus intentional grounding penalties) per pass attempt adjusted for down, distance, and opponent

The difference is Wilson is balling out of his mind, lifting up his team to a 4-1 mark through five weeks. He’s thrown 12 touchdowns against zero interceptions. He’s very good when the play breaks down.

Prior to Monday night, Garrett’s name was being floated for Defensive Player of the Year. He had a sack of Jimmy Garoppolo, but was mostly overshadowed by Nick Bosa. Garrett has 7.0 takedown on the season and if the Browns are going to have any chance, Garrett’s going to have to put pressure on Wilson.

It’d be nice for Olivier Vernon to join the party, as well. For what the Browns are paying him, the former Giant has one sack through five games.

Pro Football Focus has graded 102 edge rushers to this point and Vernon is 71st, which is considered average. His passing rushing grade (65.6) is much higher than his run defense (46.3).
