Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry’s quote about going to New England to win is Fake News, but it’s too late. Bill Belichick already  told his team about it.

Being a sports fan in this day an age is the best. Thanks to Twitter, the public can always stay in tune with their favorite Cleveland Browns writers/reporters and players in real-time.

It’s days like this though, that the media makes a bad name for themselves.

Jarvis Landry was asked about the Browns coming out of the Bye, and he said, “The mission don’t change, we’re going to win the game.”

Obviously this is good. Losing stinks and a loss on Sunday makes the Browns 2-5 and makes earning a playoff berth a tough, job.

Some in the media took off with the quote as Landry guaranteeing a victory, even though he never said the word, “Guarantee.” He later stated he should of said “We’re going there to win.”

It didn’t need to be said Jarvis, I heard you the first time.

Anyways, Landy’s words became clickbait because no would be crazy enough to give coach Bill Belichik bulletin board material. Landry even clarified his comments, stating “We’re going there to win,” it’s too late. Belichick’s apparently already told his team.

As for this story becoming a story, it’s Fake News run amuck and it’s no wonder the press doesn’t have the same access to the players they had 20 years ago. Everything is about clicks. And hey, I  get it. You’ve clicked on this website (Thank you, by the way, I can’t believe how much our audience has grown).

The initial story and Landry’s later comments have been made into stories locally and nationally. Heck, Cleveland.com’s got at least two stories on it, in addition to a YouTube dissection.

Twitter’s also to blame. Players words go into reporter keyboards and are disseminated moments after being spoken. The social media site is great for keeping up, but it can often make things seem larger than they really are.

Some in Cleveland’s local media seem upset for being taken out of context. One scribe blamed “People who aren’t even in the room” for getting the story wrong. This person tweeted the quote with context, stating it was said in reply when asked how the Browns would perform coming out of the Bye. Another reporter tweeted it was a quote in response to playing the Pats.

Once Landry had to clarify what he meant, everyone was tweeting and writing about.

There’s only one way to salvage this ridiculous story and that’s by having Iron Chef Michael Symon create a “Nothingburger” for B-Spot out of his non-story.

In the end, this means nothing and wasted all of our time.

Next. 4 Browns most likely to be dealt before deadline. dark

Tom Brady isn’t going to drop back into the pocket and think of Landry, giving him the power to the throw the ball the length of the field, nor is Jamie Collins  going to hit Nick Chubb harder because of something Landry said four days before a game.
