2. Freddie’s coaching penalties!

One of the Browns biggest enemies in 2019 has been themselves. Fans have to wait to celebrate because whenever Cleveland does make a play, a thrown yellow flag usually follows.

Freddie Kitchens made a Kiss-of-Death quote a few weeks ago, stating he doesn’t “coach penalties.”

Welp, he does now. Kitchens had players run to the end zone and back for committing pre-snap infractions. Kitchens had been been doing this in training camp, but stopped the practice once the regular season commenced.

Can’t believe it’s taken him this long, as the Browns lead the NFL with 70 penalties in seven games. That ranks the Browns second in penalty yards (591). Minnesota, having played an extra game at this point, leads the NFL with 604 penalty yards.

You only get one chance to make a first impression, and you’ve got to wonder what the players think about running in camp, stopping, and then picking things back up.

Frankly, the Browns should’ve never stopped running. After Kitchens witnessed the penalty infested opener, disciplining penalties should’ve become common practice.

Better late than never, though. Perhaps if the Browns can stop harming themselves, they can begin to tap the potential so many of us foresaw in the offseason.
