Cleveland Browns: The unofficial 2000-2009 All-Decade team
By Chad Porto
Special Teams
Actually, there were more Pro Bowl selections on the Special Teams alone than there was in the entirety of the Browns defense. Josh Cribbs himself lapped them all with three on his own. Phil Dawson makes it an even four, thus doubling the defenses selections.
KR/PR Andre’ Davis
The two returners during this time that mattered were Dennis Northcutt on punt returns and eventually Josh Cribbs for both punt and kick return. Before Cribbs Andre’ (not Andra) Davis took that honor and he was ok at best. Besides Cribbs, Davis returned kicks in the most seasons.
KR/PR Josh Cribbs
Dennis Northcutt, Devin Hester, Dante Hall, and Josh Cribbs; the four men who defined what it meant to be an MVP caliber player on special teams.
K Phil Dawson
The greatest kicker not named Lou Garza in Browns’ history.
P Chris Gardocki
The best punter of the modern era for the Browns. He never had a punt blocked in his entire career.
Head Coach Butch Davis
Butch Davis took the 2002 Cleveland Browns to the playoffs. Why else would he be on here?
Head Coach Romeo Crennel
Romeo Crennel took the 2007 Browns to a 10-win season. Why else would he be on here?
Offensive Coordinator Rob Chudzinski
He knew how to make Derek Anderson look good, as he was the Browns offensive coordinator during that magical 2007 season.
